Hi there! Let's get formalities out of the way. I am J.J. and I am a senior Communication, Public Relations major at Appalachian State University. I will graduate in May, 2021, and will most likely resort to wearing my cap and gown to the grocery store since I won't get the praise I deserve like I would at an in person graduation.

What am I going to be doing with the rest of my life? Well, I can't give you that far in advance, but I can give you till the start of September, 2021. After I graduate in May, I will set off in my van that I have converted to live in full time and see the world! Well, at least parts of the U.S. I have yet to see.

Enough about me, let's talk about "The Best $10 I Ever Spent". The idea for this blog came from my impending student debt. Living in a van is cheap, but it is not free and I will only have 6 months till I have to start paying back my student loans. During that time, I want to travel and experience as much as I can without breaking the bank. So, I thought about my most enjoyable experiences in my home town and how much they seemed to cost me. I figured out for $10 or less I had made some amazing memories where I grew up. That gave me the idea for "The Best $10 I Ever Spent". I realized my travels could be about asking locals what was the best their cities and towns had to offer for an affordable price. Traveling and having experiences does not have to leave you broke.

So, what will these posts look like? It will start with a short interview where I ask a local "What's the best thing I can get or do around here for $10 or less?" Once I have their answer I will give a brief description of what they are suggesting. Then I might give a little back story about why that local feels that this experience is worth having. Then it will end with me actually going and experiencing it for myself and giving a review. This is always subject to change of course. Part of traveling is being able to go with the flow!
