Well, we made it!

Not only to the end of this class, but to my academic career as a whole. I will be graduating in less than two weeks and I will soon be setting off for new adventures in the van!
I am sad to see this class come to an end as it has been the most enjoyable this semester. Having to come up with new content weekly gave me an avenue to take a break from studying and writing my papers and to instead think creatively.

A big takeaway I had from this class is that creating engaging and visually pleasing content takes more time than you think it does. I think people are exposed to content so often that they forget how much work goes into creating it. Like most things, you can notice when effort is made, and it really stands out when there hasn't been any.

If there is anything this class has shown me, it is that good work takes planning and plenty of time to execute.
Take for example my podcast episode. Not only was time spent learning more about Britt’s Donut's through research but prepping a script took longer than I thought it would. I am not even going to admit how long it took me to edit that episode. Granted I was learning how to use anchor for the first time, but still, that is one assignment I am glad I did not leave to the night of.
Or even when it came to content that is meant to be consumed quickly, it did not mean that creating it went by quick. Such as the infographic I created on cheap travel. It took time for me to whittle down what I thought was important to share and what I felt could be left out.

Even my video story where I took y’all on a night in the van with me. What was only a couple of minutes of video footage to watch, took a few hours to map out and shoot. To be honest, this was the most difficult thing for me to create as I wasn’t even sure if it would be interesting enough for people to want to watch. In the end I had a blast making it, but in the moment I experienced a lot of self-doubt.

However, in the end, this class not only boosted my confidence in my ability to create content, but it also left me with a great start to a portfolio! Which is very important to have when looking for employment to help pay off those student loan bills coming in soon. Overall, this has been a great ride and I can’t wait to see what adventures are in store for me.
