Please Check out my new podcast episode about Britt's Donuts:

With the weather warming up again, it means my hometown of Wilmington, NC is only just a couple of weeks away from the summer season. That means beach days, tourist drivers, and most importantly Britt's Donuts.

Britt’s Donuts was the inspiration for The Best $10 I Ever Spent, so it only seems fitting for me to cover it in my first podcast episode! In this episode, I discussed Britt’s Donuts, the iconic donut shop found on the Carolina Beach Boardwalk. It has been open for over 80 years and has been a staple for many happy memories for tourists and locals alike. I gave a brief description of my connection to Britt’s, a quick look at its history, and then described a visit one might have on a warm summer day or night.

As for the making of the podcast, there were moments I enjoyed and moments I dreaded. I have always been more favorable to talking than writing, so I was excited to get to the talking portion of creating a podcast. However, I quickly realized how important the prewriting of the episode was. I seemed the most confident on sections that I had clearly written out in my script and appeared to be more hesitant when I spoke off the cuff. So, while I was dreading the writing portion, I came to understand how important it is to take the time and plan out what you are going to say.

When it came time to record and assemble the podcast through Anchor, I had a bit of a learning curve. I had never used the software before, and I was constantly living in fear that one wrong move would delete all of the work I had recorded. Surprisingly, that did not happen and by the end, I had learned how to create content on a new platform. I was having so much fun near the end that I started planning out an idea for another podcast the following week! You will have to stay tuned to find out if it will be released.
All in all, it was a great experience to figure out how to create and distribute a podcast and it was nice to do it about something so near and dear to my heart! #MyAppStateStory
